WitEden Cuboid 3x3x6

The WitEden Cuboid 3x3x6 is a cuboid from the 3x3xN series. It has a regular 3x3 face on the top and bottom, and six layers vertically. All pieces are cube-shaped, so the puzzle is proportional and looks like two 3x3 cubes stacked on top of each other. It has a black body with stickers, fits comfortably in your hand and weighs approx. 210 g.

How the 3x3x6 cuboid turns

The top and bottom faces turn by 90°, just like on a regular 3x3 cube. The side faces measure 3x6, so they can only be turned by 180°. Because of this, the whole solving method relies on different moves than a classic cube. In practice, you first sort out the layers with 90° moves and only then work out the half turns on the sides. Good spatial awareness also helps, because with six layers the pieces easily move between the top and bottom halves.

Mechanism and solving feel

The cube has no magnets, and the turning is classic and fairly light. In their reviews, users say it turns properly straight out of the box and the body feels solid. However, this is a cuboid for fun and learning, not for setting records. With very aggressive turning and heavy reverse corner cutting, popping (a piece coming out) may occur. Gentler turning and a little cube lube noticeably improve smoothness.

Who is it for?

It's a good choice if you can already solve a 3x3 and want to try something different from yet another regular cube. It requires a change in thinking, but not as many new algorithms as big NxN cubes. It also looks great in a collection next to 3x3x4, 3x3x5 or 3x3x7 cuboids. It's less suitable as a child's first cube. It's better to start with a regular 3x3 cube and come back to the cuboid once the basics are mastered.
