WitEden Super Cube 3x3x7 v1

WitEden Super Cube 3x3x7 v1 looks like an ordinary 3x3 cube from the outside, but it has seven layers along one axis. It is the cubic version of the 3x3x7 puzzle. The extra layers don't make the body longer. Instead, they fit inside the cube shape, so they come in different thicknesses. The word "Super" in the name refers to the circular pieces on the faces. Thanks to them, the puzzle can be scrambled in more ways than a standard 3x3x7. This model comes in black.

What makes it challenging

The faces with three layers look familiar, but on the seven-layer axis you have more pieces to keep track of, including thin layers hidden inside. On top of that, the circular pieces change the orientation of some pieces relative to the rest of the face. That's why a 3x3 method alone isn't enough. You solve it much like 3x3xN cuboids: first you sort out the layers, and then you have to deal with parity cases that don't occur on a regular cube. If you have already solved a 3x3x5, you'll be repeating the same steps on two additional layers.

What to expect

This is a collector's puzzle, not a speedcube. It isn't worth comparing it with modern 3x3 cubes in terms of TPS or corner cutting. With the thin layers, it's best to turn calmly and align the layers carefully before the next move.

Super 3x3x7 versions

WitEden has released several variants of the Super 3x3x7 (including v1, v2 and a version labelled 00). They differ in how the circular pieces interact with the outer layers, so each version requires a slightly different approach when solving. This product is the v1 version.

Who is it for?

For those who can already solve a 3x3, have at least one cuboid or shape mod under their belt, and are now looking for a puzzle with an unusual mechanism. Collectors of the WitEden 3x3xN series will be pleased too. This model is not suitable as a first cube, including for children.
