YJ EST 3x3x3

YJ MGC EST 3x3 Magnetic

In the MGC series, YJ usually sticks to proven designs, but the YJ MGC EST 3x3 clearly breaks away from them. The cube has cutouts on the edges, a wide inner orbit and unusual hardware under the screw. It is a magnetic 3x3 cube in a stickerless bright version, measuring 55.5 mm and weighing about 70 g.

What makes the EST stand out

• Speed-Micro Actuator: a small washer with tiny bearings placed under the screw head. According to YJ, it reduces friction and speeds up turning.
• Edge cutouts, visible from the outside. They make the EST look different from a typical 3x3.
• Wide inner orbit: a redesigned track along which the pieces move. The manufacturer credits it with improved stability.
• Moderate-strength magnets. The layers snap into place, but without a strong "click".

How it turns

The EST is fast, has a soft feel and performs well right out of the box. Users describe it as fast but still controllable. Some people, however, point out a noticeable looseness (floppy feeling) and admit that this cube takes some getting used to. It has a distinct character: some will love it from the first solves, while others will miss the stability offered by designs with stronger magnets. There is also positive feedback about the EST as an OH cube.

Adjustment

Tension is set with screws, and a screwdriver is included. If the cube feels too loose, start by tightening it slightly. This often reduces the floppy feeling without much loss of speed.

Who is it for?

For a cuber who has already tried a few cubes, enjoys fast and soft turning and wants to try a design different from standard 3x3s. The EST also works well as a second cube for OH. For a child's first cube, it is better to choose a classic, more stable magnetic 3x3, as it is more predictable and easier to get used to.
