The YJ GuanLong 3x3x3 V4 is the fourth generation of one of the best-known budget speed cubes from YongJun (YJ). This 3x3 cube has no magnets, is lightweight and has fixed tension. You don't need to set it up, but you also can't adjust it to your liking. It's a simple cube for getting started, not a tool for chasing records.

The V4 is a rather controversial model. The biggest issue is tension adjustment. YJ didn't use classic screws here. Instead, it went with a cap system similar to the one known from GAN cubes, but in a simplified form. In GAN cubes the caps have three positions: two spacer positions and one empty position used for disassembling the cube. The GuanLong V4 has only two: one spacer position and one empty position. In practice, this means you can't change the tension. The cube works the way it was set up at the factory.

Magnets are a separate topic. The GuanLong V4 is light, weighing approx. 64 g, and the shape of its pieces would allow magnets to be fitted. YJ decided against it. If you want a magnetic cube, you'll need to look for a different model or magnetize the GuanLong yourself, which takes some skill.

According to reviews from users and speedcubing shops, the V4 turns properly and has a solid build. Some people complain, however, that the plastic deforms after intensive use. Because of the fixed tension and low weight, it's more of a cube for learning to solve than for fast turning at high TPS.

In the black plastic version, the moving pieces have a black body, while the centers are made of colored plastic (primary). This color combination may remind you of FangShi puzzles. We offer three variants: Black, White and Stickerless Bright.

Who is it for? For someone who is just starting out and wants their first real speed cube without spending much. It also works well as a backup cube or for a child learning their first method. If you already know the basics and want to improve your times, go straight for a budget magnetic cube with tension adjustment.
