YJ GuanLong Pyraminx V2

YJ GuanLong Pyraminx V2 is the new version of the budget Pyraminx from the GuanLong series, YJ's most affordable line of puzzles. This puzzle has no magnets. It is light and turns easily, so it works well as a first Pyraminx or an inexpensive model to learn on before you decide on a pricier magnetic version. In our shop it is available in two variants: Black and Stickerless Bright.

How does it turn?

According to distributors, the V2 turns more smoothly and is more stable than the previous GuanLong version. Reviewers describe the turning as light and "snappy", and the corner cutting as good for this price range. It is more than enough for learning methods such as layer-by-layer solving or your first attempts at L4E.

Without magnets, the puzzle doesn't settle the layers into place on its own and doesn't give a distinct "click" with every move. When solving fast, overshooting or an under-turned layer is more likely than with magnetic models. For timed practice and competitions, most people later choose a magnetic Pyraminx. As a first model or a spare puzzle to keep in your bag, though, the GuanLong V2 does the job.

Black or Stickerless?

The mechanism is the same in both variants; they differ only in finish. The Black version has black plastic and colored stickers, the classic Pyraminx look. Stickerless Bright has no stickers. The plastic itself is colored, so nothing wears off or peels, which comes in handy with heavy use, including by kids.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants to start solving the Pyraminx without spending much, and for parents looking for a simple, lightweight puzzle for their child. A cuber who already knows the Pyraminx and wants to improve their times will be happier with a magnetic model. In that case, the GuanLong V2 can stay on as a spare puzzle or one for learning new algorithms.
