YJ Macaron 2x2 Cube

YJ Macaron 2x2 Cube

YJ Macaron 2x2 is a simple 2x2 cube from YJ, made in a stickerless version with the pastel Macaron colour scheme. The colours are in the plastic of the pieces, so there are no stickers that could wear off or peel over time. This cube is mainly for learning, solving for fun and giving as a gift. If you want a cube for setting 2x2 records, it's better to choose a different model.

Macaron colour scheme

Macaron is a colour scheme, not a separate mechanism. Instead of the standard, highly saturated colours, the cube has light pastel shades. Many people choose this version mainly for its looks. However, pastel colours give slightly lower contrast than the classic stickerless bright scheme. If telling the colours apart clearly matters most to you, the standard colour scheme will work better.

A 2x2 cube to start with

A 2x2 cube has only corners, with no edges or centres. That's why it's a good place to start: the solving methods are shorter than on a 3x3, and your first solve usually comes quickly. The 50 mm size is typical for speedcubing 2x2 cubes, so the cube fits comfortably in the hand for both children and adults.

Who is it for?

YJ Macaron 2x2 is a sensible choice as your first 2x2 cube, for a child, or as a pastel addition to your collection. For a speedcuber who trains 2x2 for time and pays attention to corner cutting, stability or magnet strength, it's more of a backup or collector's cube. For regular training, a model from the YJ MGC series, such as the YJ MGC 2x2, will work better. It's a magnetic 2x2 cube designed by YJ with speedcubing in mind.
