YJ Macaron Pyraminx

YJ Macaron Pyraminx

YJ Macaron Pyraminx is a budget stickerless pyraminx from the Macaron series by YJ (YongJun). Its faces come in pastel colors, just like other puzzles in this series, such as the 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4 cubes. It's a simple model with no magnets and no UV coating. It's a good choice if you want to start solving the pyramid puzzle or need a cheap spare.

Macaron color scheme and stickerless design

The colors are molded into the plastic, so there are no stickers that could wear off or peel. This matters a lot on the small tips, because that's where stickers wear out fastest with frequent turning. The pastel shades are lighter and softer than the standard color scheme. When you first solve it, some shades may look similar to each other, but most people get used to this quickly.

What to expect

This is a regular pyraminx: four independently turning tips, four axial corners and six edges. It's an easy puzzle to learn, and a few simple algorithms are all you need to solve it. That's why it's often the second puzzle people pick up after the 3x3 cube. The Macaron has no magnets, so the layers don't snap into place on their own, and you won't get the noticeable "click" on every move that a magnetic pyraminx gives you. You need to be a little more precise when turning.

Who is it for?

For beginners and kids who want to try something different from the 3x3 cube. It's also a good fit for collectors of the Macaron series who want the whole set in the same color scheme. If you practice pyraminx for time and stability during fast turning matters to you, it's better to choose a magnetic model, such as the YJ YuLong Pyraminx V2 M or the YJ MGC EVO Pyraminx. The latter also has adjustable magnet strength.
