The Meta3 is a 3x3 cube from YJ released in 2025 and the successor to the MGC Beta. The YJ Meta3 3x3 Magnetic is the base version of this model: frosted plastic, no UV coating and no core magnets. It has the same new mechanism as the more expensive variants, so it's the easiest way to find out how the Meta3 feels in your hands.

How it turns

Reviewers praise the Meta3 for its very good corner cutting and smooth feel. It is sometimes described as something between classic YJ cubes and MoYu models. It isn't one of the fastest new releases on the market. This cube is geared more towards control than maximum speed, which will please anyone who struggles with overshooting on very light, fast cubes. Some users report that the cube can feel slightly scratchy straight out of the box. Lubing it usually helps.

Mechanism and magnets

• New piece design: the centers have skirts and the edges have matching cutouts. The corners have anti-corner-twist protection. All of this is meant to increase stability compared to the MGC Beta.
• Wing magnets: in addition to the standard magnets between corners and edges, this version also has magnets between centers and edges. This is a rarely seen solution that gives a more distinct "click" when a layer snaps into place.
• Springs instead of MagLev: all Meta3 versions use classic springs.
• 9 compression settings, so you can set the cube looser or tighter.

Which Meta3 version?

The Ball-Core UV version has 8 core magnets and a glossy UV coating, but no center-edge magnets. The flagship version has everything at once: wing magnets, Ball-Core, UV and additional magnets in the edge feet. The Magnetic is the simplest and lightest to handle. It's a good choice if you like frosted plastic and don't need the extra stabilization from the core.

Who is it for?

For anyone looking for a controllable 3x3 magnetic cube on a reasonable budget. It also works well as a first "real" speedcubing cube and for cubers who want to try the Meta3 mechanism without paying extra for Ball-Core and UV. If you're after a cube for very high TPS with the lightest possible turning, you may find it a little too calm.
