A non-magnetic 3x3 cube from YJ with enlarged centers and corners and small edges. You solve it like a regular 3x3, but it looks completely different, and the turning is smooth and surprisingly light. Size approx. 56 mm, weight approx. 57 g, stickerless version.
YJ QianJi 3x3 is an unusual 3x3 cube from YJ (YongJun) with uncommon piece proportions. The centers and corners are enlarged, while the edges are noticeably smaller than on a regular cube. The puzzle is still a cube with sides of approx. 56 mm, but once scrambled it looks completely different from a standard 3x3. The cube has no magnets, is light (approx. 57 g) and comes in a stickerless version.
Mechanically it is a regular 3x3 cube, so you solve it with the same methods and algorithms as any other 3x3. The challenge lies elsewhere: the unusual piece sizes and the sculpted surface make recognizing colors and cases slower at first. For many people this is the main appeal of this cube, because familiar algorithms suddenly require more attention.
For a non-magnetic cube in this segment, the turning is surprisingly pleasant. Users describe it as smooth and fairly fast, and corner cutting works better than you might expect from such a simple design. Without magnets the cube does not align the layers by itself, so you need to turn more precisely. With faster turning, overshooting is also easier than on a magnetic cube. Some people point out that the QianJi is fairly loud, with a distinct clacking sound.
The QianJi is above all a collector's curiosity and a cube "for fun". It is a good choice for a cuber who can already solve a 3x3 and wants something that looks different but does not require learning new methods. It looks great with patterns such as the superflip. It also makes an affordable gift for someone who likes cubes. However, it is not a cube for breaking records: for timed practice, a magnetic speedcube is a better choice. As a first cube for learning to solve, a classic 3x3 will be more convenient, as cases are easier to recognize on it.
