YJ SpeedCubing Timer

YJ SpeedCubing Timer is a full-size speedcubing timer from YongJun (YJ), released in 2020. It measures time just like at competitions: you place both hands on the start pads and lift them to begin, and once the cube is solved, you stop the timer by putting them back down. This way you can practice inspection and starting at home exactly as you would at a competition.

Design and use

Its shape is what sets it apart the most. The start pads are located below the display and slope downwards instead of lying flat on the sides, as on many other timers. The reset button is not on the top of the housing. Users point out that this means you won't accidentally clear your result when you put the cube down on the timer after a solve. This is a common problem with other designs.

Features

The timer remembers up to three times. It also has a mini-jack port for connecting a display or a computer. The cable is not included. It is powered by two 1.5 V AAA batteries.

Who is it for?

This timer is a great choice if you want to practice with a real timer instead of a phone stopwatch, or if you need an affordable timer for comp-sim. It's a good first timer for a child who is starting to solve against the clock. Official competitions usually use other models, so before a competition it's worth practicing on that kind of equipment too, as the pad layout and the way you start are slightly different. If a small size and easy portability matter most to you, a pocket timer is a better choice.

    Polecam!
