YJ YuanZhu 3x3x3

YJ YuanZhu 3x3x3 is a classic 3x3 cube in an unusual form. Instead of a flat surface, each tile is a raised, rounded bead, so every face looks like a set of nine beads. The model is also known as the YJ Ball 3x3 or "Bead face". The cube is made by YongJun (YJ), and we offer it in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How does it turn?

Despite its unusual shape, the cube is smooth, and turning is light and pleasant. However, it is not suitable for speedsolving. The beads give your fingers a different grip than a flat face, which makes precise fingertricks and accurately aligning layers harder at higher speeds. The cube has no magnets, so the layers don't snap into place on their own. This requires a bit more control than a typical magnetic speed cube. The mechanism has adjustment screws you can use to change the tension if the cube feels too loose or too tight.

Who is it for?

The YuanZhu works best as a collector's cube, a gift or a change of pace for someone who can already solve a 3x3 and wants to try something different in their hands. The move sequences and algorithms are exactly the same as on a regular 3x3 cube; only the surface shape is different. If you're looking for your first cube to learn speedsolving or a model for competitions, choose a classic magnetic 3x3 cube with flat faces.
