YJ YuHu Megaminx M replacement: black pieces for the YuHu V2 M

This is a set of black replacement parts for the magnetic YJ YuHu Megaminx M megaminx (also known as the YuHu V2 M). Out of the box, this megaminx has one grey face. In weaker light and during fast solving, it's easy to confuse it with white. This set lets you swap the grey face, or any other face, for a black one, the colour that is standard on most speedcubing megaminxes.

Why replace a face with black?

On a megaminx, quick colour recognition has a big impact on how smoothly you solve, especially during the last layer stages, when you can see many faces at once. Grey doesn't stand out much next to white. Black clearly contrasts with it. People who have made this change most often mention easier recognition, not any difference in the mechanism. The swap does not affect the turning of the puzzle.

Installation

The pieces come pre-magnetised from the factory, so you don't need to remove magnets from the old parts or glue them in. Simply take the puzzle apart enough to remove the pieces of the chosen face and put the black ones in their place. According to users, removing the first piece is the hardest part. After that, the whole swap takes just a few minutes. While you're at it, it's a good idea to lube the puzzle, since it's already open.

Compatibility

The set fits the YJ YuHu Megaminx M / V2 M, the magnetic version measuring approx. 73-74 mm. It is not intended for the YuHu V3, a newer, smaller design that has its own replacement parts. Before buying, check which YuHu version you have.
