YuXin 2x2 Multi Pyraminx looks like a pyramid, but inside it runs a 2x2 cube mechanism. It's a shape mod, a puzzle that takes a familiar mechanism and gives it a different shape. In shops abroad it's also sold as YuXin 2x2 Multi-Triangle or Multi-Pyraminx. How it differs from a regular Pyraminx

This is not a Pyraminx in the WCA sense. There are no turnable tips and no classic Pyraminx layers. The layers turn just like on a 2x2 cube; only the shape and the color arrangement change. If you need a pyramid puzzle to practice for competitions, choose a classic Pyraminx. The Multi Pyraminx is a nice change from standard puzzles.

If you can solve a 2x2, the move mechanics will feel familiar. The challenge lies elsewhere: because of the unusual shape, you have to relearn how to recognize where a given piece is and how to place it. Also note that it's sometimes confused with the Pyraminx Duo, which is a different puzzle.
