YuXin Black Kylin 2x2x2 v2

YuXin Black Kylin 2x2x2 v2

Black Kylin is YuXin's budget cube series. You may also see it sold as Black Kirin. The YuXin Black Kylin 2x2x2 v2 is the second version of the 2x2 in this series: a simple 2x2 cube measuring 50 mm and weighing about 70 g. It comes in the stickerless bright colour scheme, so it has no stickers. The colours are in the plastic itself, so nothing will peel or wear off over time.

How it turns

This 2x2 cube has no magnets. The layers don't snap into place on their own the way they do on magnetic cubes, so you need to turn a bit more precisely. That's no obstacle when you're learning your first 2x2 method or solving casually for fun. The cube is light and easy to take anywhere.

The Black Kylin v2 isn't a cube for breaking records. More expensive 2x2s have magnets, better corner cutting and tension adjustment, and this one doesn't. Like many budget cubes, the new 2x2 may feel a little rough at first. A few drops of lube and some solving usually help.

Who is it for?

This 2x2 works well as a first 2x2 cube for a child or an adult who is just learning to solve. It also makes a good spare cube for your backpack. Speedcubers who practise Ortega, CLL or EG and chase faster times usually prefer a magnetic 2x2 with tension adjustment. But before you spend more on your first 2x2, find out whether this type of puzzle really gets you hooked. For that, the Black Kylin v2 is all you need.
