YuXin Egg Cube is an egg-shaped puzzle built on a 3x3 cube mechanism. You turn it exactly like a regular 3x3 cube, except that instead of a cube you hold an oval shape in your hand. This shape mod works well as a break from the classic 3x3 and as a decorative piece for your shelf. It comes in three colors: blue, green and yellow.

How is it different from a regular 3x3 cube?

The layers are cut the same way as on a 3x3, but the outer shape is rounded and elongated along one axis. As a result, the pieces have different shapes and sizes. Once scrambled, the egg loses its form and turns into an irregular shape, and your goal is to restore its smooth, oval outline. In practice, you have to keep track not only of where the pieces go, but also of their orientation. A piece in the right place but twisted the wrong way immediately spoils the outline of the egg.

How do you solve the Egg Cube?

If you know any method for solving a 3x3 cube, you can handle this puzzle too. The algorithms are the same; only the way you recognize the pieces changes. The irregular shape makes it easy to get lost at first, so your first solves will usually take longer than on a classic cube. The oval shape sits in your hands differently than a cube, and this is not a puzzle for setting speed records. Here it's more about having fun with the shape itself.
