This is the second magnetic version of the Little Magic 2x2, one of the more popular budget 2x2 cubes from YuXin. The YuXin Little Magic 2x2 M V2 was released in 2021. Compared to earlier versions, it has an improved mechanism, factory-installed magnets in the pieces and a black internal core. The plastic has a slightly matte finish and offers a medium grip in the hand. The cube comes in a stickerless version with bright colors (Bright).

How it turns

The cube turns smoothly and doesn't catch at a normal solving pace. The magnets are medium to strong, so the layers clearly "click" into place, and stability is good for this price range. According to user reviews, corner cutting reaches about 40°. That's enough for learning and relaxed solving, but with very aggressive turning and high TPS, lockups can happen. The cube is also fairly loud. Many cubers say it becomes noticeably smoother after lubing, so it's worth considering adding lube to your order.

As with any 2x2 cube, don't force the corners to twist (corner twist), as you could break a piece.

V2 M vs. older versions

The Little Magic 2x2 is also available in a non-magnetic version and in the first magnetic version. The V2 M has a newer mechanism and offers more precise turning than the non-magnetic version. It's also noticeably lighter than the first M version, which, according to distributor data, weighs approx. 74 g.

Who is it for?

It's a great choice as a first magnetic 2x2 cube for a beginner or a child, and also as an affordable practice cube for people who already solve. It's legal for official competitions. An advanced speedcuber looking for stronger corner cutting and adjustable magnet strength will sooner or later reach for a more expensive flagship model.
