YuXin Little Magic Megaminx v2

YuXin Little Magic Megaminx v2 is the second version of the megaminx from the budget Little Magic series. It is still a light, affordable dodecahedron puzzle, but the manufacturer has improved its mechanism and piece shape compared to the first version. This variant has no magnets and comes in stickerless bright, meaning it is made of coloured plastic without stickers.

What has changed compared to v1

The internals have been redesigned. The corners have additional grooves, the pieces are more rounded, and the puzzle itself is slightly smaller than its predecessor. In practice, v2 feels more compact and stable than v1. The convex wings, i.e. the contoured edges of the pieces, remain unchanged. On a megaminx, which you hold differently from a cube, they noticeably improve grip and make it easier to turn the faces without them slipping out of your fingers.

How it solves

The puzzle is light and turns effortlessly, which you will especially appreciate during longer solves. Out of the box, however, it can be fairly tight, just like v1. Users usually start by loosening the adjustment screws, and only then does the puzzle show what it can do. Corner cutting is decent, but with less precise turning it takes a bit of force and some slight catching may occur. Some cubers install magnets in this model themselves, which reduces catching and increases control, and given the puzzle's low weight, the extra grams are not a problem.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants to start their megaminx adventure or add one to their collection without spending a lot. It works well for beginner and intermediate cubers. If you are aiming for good times in competitions and want magnets without modding the puzzle yourself, consider the magnetic V3M version from the same series or more expensive flagship megaminxes.
