YuXin Panda Cube: a 2x2 puzzle shaped like a panda

YuXin Panda Cube is a shape mod, a puzzle with a modified shape. When solved, it forms a panda figure, but after a few moves it breaks up into irregular blocks in which the panda is hard to recognize. Inside, it uses a standard 2x2 mechanism, so you solve it the same way as a 2x2 cube. Instead of matching colored faces, though, you put together the parts of the panda: the head, ears, paws and body.

How to solve it

Mechanically, it's a classic 2x2, so all you need is the basic layer-by-layer method for the 2x2. The challenge lies in recognizing the pieces. They differ in shape and size and are painted only black and white, so the habits you've built on a colored cube won't help you here. You have to look at how the pieces fit together. Even people who solve the 2x2 with ease usually need a few attempts to get used to it.

Because of the uneven shape of the layers, it is not suitable for fast turning or setting times, and aggressive turning can cause popping.
