YuXin Snake 2x2 is a puzzle from the YuXin animal series, shaped like a coiled snake. It has a tail and a forked tongue. Inside there is a regular 2x2 mechanism, but the cube is a single colour. So you don't solve it by the colours of the faces, but by its shape. It is only solved when the snake looks like a snake again.

How to solve a snake-shaped 2x2 cube

The moves and algorithms are the same as on a classic 2x2 cube. If you can solve a regular 2x2, you can handle this one too. What's harder is recognising where each piece should go. Instead of colours, you look at the bumps, the edges of the body, the head and the tail. With two pieces that look alike, it's easy to get their orientation wrong. This is exactly the part that gives the most fun, even for people who find a regular 2x2 too easy.

This is not a speedcubing cube. A piece that sticks far out beyond the outline of the cube changes the balance and grip, so don't expect high TPS or times like on a beginner cube. YuXin Snake works best as a puzzle for relaxed solving, a desk decoration and an interesting addition to a shape mod collection.

Colours

The cube is entirely one colour. There are three versions to choose from: green, orange and purple. The colour only changes the look; the mechanism and shape are the same in all versions.

Who is it for?

For people who already know the basics of the 2x2 and want to try something different from yet another speedcubing cube. It also makes a good gift for a child or teenager who likes puzzles. If you can't solve a 2x2 yet, you can start on a regular cube, learn a method and then move on to the snake. Without knowing the algorithms, solving by shape can be frustrating.
