YuXin Star Navi Cube

The name says "Cube", but this is not a cube. The YuXin Star Navi Cube is a star-shaped Megaminx, a shape mod from the Interstellar series (which also includes the Space Swift, Star Burst and Star Path). The centers stick out, while the corners and edges are recessed inward. The puzzle looks like a stellated dodecahedron with dozens of sharp points. Inside, it uses a standard megaminx mechanism. The color scheme is stickerless bright, with no stickers.

How to solve the Star Navi Megaminx

The moves and pieces are the same as on a classic megaminx, so the algorithms you already know work unchanged. Recognition is the harder part. The puzzle has 12 colors, but none of them sits on a single flat face. Each color is spread across five points of the star, so during your first solves it is hard to tell which face is finished and which is not. Your brain has to "rewire" the picture it got used to on a regular megaminx. That is exactly why people love shape mods.

It is more of a puzzle for your collection and relaxed solving than a speedsolving tool. With its protruding points, it does not sit in your hands like a smooth megaminx, and there are no magnets inside. Fast turning and TPS are not the priority here. What matters is the shape itself and the fun of recognition.

Who is it for?

For anyone who can already solve a megaminx and wants to try the same method in a less obvious form. It also fits nicely into a shape mod collection, and it looks striking on a shelf even when scrambled.
