YuXin Volleyball 2x2

YuXin Volleyball 2x2 is a 2x2 cube shaped like a volleyball. Inside, it has a regular 2x2 mechanism, while the outside is a spherical body. Instead of six coloured faces, it has lines and panels that resemble the seams of a real ball. A puzzle like this is a shape mod: it looks different from a cube, but it turns just like a 2x2. We offer the Orange version.

How to solve the 2x2 ball

The algorithms are the same as for a 2x2 cube. What changes is how you recognise the pieces. A sphere has no clear faces or colours, so solving means restoring the ball's pattern. You need to watch how the lines and coloured panels connect. During your first few solves, you'll notice how used to the colours of a classic cube you are. Even if you already know how to solve a 2x2, you'll have to learn to recognise the pieces all over again.

The puzzle has no magnets and no UV coating. It's a puzzle for fun and for display, not for timed solving. The round shape sits comfortably in your hand, but it isn't designed for fast turning or breaking records.

Who is it for?

For anyone who can already solve a 2x2 and is looking for something different from yet another cube. It also makes a great gift for someone who plays or follows volleyball, or an addition to a shape mod collection. For complete beginners, a classic 2x2 cube with coloured faces is a better first choice. It's easier to learn the method on it and then move on to the ball.

As with any 2x2 cube, don't force the corners to twist, as you could damage a piece.
