Z-cube 3D Maze Cube is an 85 mm maze cube that turns like a 3x3. Your goal is to guide a metal ball from start to finish, and every layer turn changes the layout of the corridors. No algorithms needed - just logic and spatial imagination. Available colors: green, yellow and orange.
Z-cube 3D Maze Cube is a puzzle where the goal isn't to match colors. Instead, you have to guide a metal ball from the start to the finish of a maze hidden inside the cube. At the same time, the cube turns like a regular 3x3, and every layer turn changes the layout of the corridors. This maze cube measures 85 mm, so it's noticeably bigger than a standard 3x3.
You move the ball by tilting the cube in your hands. When you hit a dead end, you turn the right layer to connect the corridors and open the way forward. So you have to think about two things at once: where the ball is right now and how to build the path a few moves ahead. It's a bit like solving a cube "backwards": first you plan the goal, then you choose the turns that get you there.
You don't need any algorithms or knowledge of 3x3 solving methods. All it takes is patience, spatial imagination and a bit of dexterity in guiding the ball. That means someone who has never solved a 3x3 cube can handle the maze, while a cuber gets a completely different kind of challenge than usual.
This is a logic puzzle, not a speed cube. There are no magnets to align the layers and no tension adjustment, and the mechanism isn't built for fast turning. The turns are there to change the maze, not for high TPS. Also, don't confuse this model with the Z Maze 3x3 cube from the same manufacturer. That one is a regular 3x3 cube with a printed maze pattern and has no ball inside.
A great gift for a child or an adult who enjoys spatial puzzles, and for a cuber looking for a change from classic cubes. The large size and simple rules make it easy to start playing, but reaching the end of the maze takes quite a bit of figuring out. There's a small metal ball inside, so this puzzle is not suitable for very young children.
