Adheron Heavy Cube Lube

This is the thickest lube in the Adheron series, which we developed at Strefa Kostek. Adheron Heavy Cube Lube has a high viscosity. Its main purpose is to slow down cubes that turn too lightly and to give you more control during fast turning. It is a silicone lube in a 20 ml bottle.

We worked on the formula for several months. We were looking for a balance between light turning and the cube's ability to slow down its own moves. Many lubes, especially water-based ones, give too little dynamic resistance. The cube then overshoots easily and loses stability while solving. Typical thick slowing lubes have the opposite problem: their resistance changes a lot during the move. This creates the so-called rubbery feel. On top of that, these lubes speed up over time, which makes it hard to set the cube up optimally. Adheron Heavy is designed to noticeably slow down moves, but without the rubbery feel.

How it works in a cube

The high viscosity noticeably increases the resistance of cubes that are too light and removes the dry feel. Layers overshoot less often, and turning becomes smoother and more stable. However, this is a strong slowing lube, so use it sparingly: start with a small amount and add more gradually if needed. If you use too much, the cube becomes heavy and sticky. In that case, the easiest fix is to clean it and lube it again with a smaller amount.

Where to use it

Thanks to its high thickness, it works well for lubing the cube's mechanism, i.e. the core, screws and springs. You can also apply it to the pieces if you want to slow the cube down noticeably. Lubes from the Adheron series can be mixed with each other. Combining Heavy with the lighter Adheron or Adheron Lite lets you set an intermediate speed tailored to a specific cube.

Who is it for?

For speedcubers who have a fast cube and want to calm it down. It helps with turning that is too light, overshooting or unstable turning. It is also useful if you put together your own lubing setup and like mixing lubes. If your cube is just dry and you are happy with its speed, choose a lighter lube from this series instead. Heavy applied to the pieces will noticeably slow the cube down.
