AJ Clover Mastermorphix Plus is a 3D-printed puzzle shaped like a triakis tetrahedron. It is a face-turning puzzle with 12 axes of rotation. Compared with the regular Clover Mastermorphix, it has additional unbandaged pieces, which makes the scramble more complete and the solve harder. It is a collector's puzzle with no magnets, approx. 60 mm in size.
AJ Clover Mastermorphix Plus is a collector's puzzle from AJ, a little-known brand that makes unusual puzzles. It is 3D printed. Its shape is a triakis tetrahedron: a tetrahedron with a low pyramid-shaped "cap" on each of its faces. This gives it 12 triangular faces. The name refers to the Mastermorphix, but the mechanism is different. This is a face-turning puzzle with 12 axes of rotation, so each of the twelve faces is a separate axis.
There is also a regular AJ Clover Mastermorphix. The Plus version has additional unbandaged pieces, meaning pieces that the mechanism does not block. This makes the scramble more complete. In practice, the puzzle gets more thoroughly scrambled after just a few moves, and solving it again takes more work. If you are just starting out with unusual shapes, the regular Clover Mastermorphix may be a gentler introduction. The Plus version makes more sense if you have already solved a few puzzles with many axes.
This is not a puzzle for speedsolving or competitions. It is a collector's puzzle, where figuring out the mechanism matters more than TPS. It has no magnets and no tension adjustment system. As with most 3D-printed puzzles, don't expect the kind of turning you get from mass-produced injection-moulded speed cubes. You usually turn these more calmly, paying closer attention to layer alignment. With 12 axes, knowing cube algorithms only helps to some extent. You will have to work out most of the solution on your own, using commutators.
For collectors of unusual puzzles and for cubers who have grown tired of classic Pyraminxes and Mastermorphixes. It is an interesting addition to a collection of tetrahedron-shaped puzzles. We do not recommend it as a first puzzle or as a gift for a child who is just learning to solve a 3x3 cube.
