Z-Cube Animal Cube

Animal Cube – a 3x3 puzzle shaped like a little animal

Animal Cube is a shape mod puzzle. The mechanism works just like a regular 3x3 cube, but the whole thing takes the form of an animal figure rather than a cube. When solved, it makes a nice desk decoration. Once scrambled, it turns into a brain teaser that makes you think differently than with a classic cube. It comes in six colour versions: white, blue, pink, grey, brown and yellow.

How to solve it

After a few moves the figure no longer looks like an animal, because the pieces differ in shape and size. If you can solve a 3x3 cube, you can use the same method. While solving, though, you need to focus mainly on the shape and details of the pieces, not just the colours. That is exactly why even someone who knows the 3x3 well will have to stop and think for a moment with this puzzle.

This is a figure-style puzzle, not a speedcube. Don't expect the corner cutting or stability you know from cubes made for timed solving. Animal Cube works better for relaxed solving than for fast turning.

Who is it for?

A great idea for a small gift for a child who loves animals and puzzles, or for a cuber who collects unusual puzzles and shape mods. If you are a beginner still learning to solve the 3x3, you may want to start with a classic cube and treat Animal Cube as the next step. Otherwise, guessing where each piece belongs can be discouraging.
