Calvins Puzzle 3x3 Physics Electromagnetics Cube is a themed 3x3 cube from the Wisdom Collection series. The faces of the pieces are UV-printed with electromagnetism patterns and symbols on a cosmic background. The mechanism is a regular 3x3, but the print makes the cube solve like a supercube, so it is more challenging than a classic one.

Supercube: the centers have orientation too

On a regular 3x3 cube, it doesn't matter which way a center piece is turned. Here, every face of every piece shows a different part of the graphic, so after you solve the cube with a standard method, the centers may be rotated by 90° or 180° and the picture on the face won't line up. You then need to fix them with extra algorithms. If you can already solve a 3x3, this is a great next step, because it teaches you to keep track of center orientation, which comes in handy on bigger cubes and other supercubes.

A collector's cube, not a speedcube

The Physics Electromagnetics has no magnets or the tension adjustment systems found on speedcubing cubes. It's not a model for breaking records or for competitions. You buy it for its looks and the extra solving challenge.
