Calvins Puzzle 3x3x5 Fisher Rocket V2

Calvins Puzzle 3x3x5 Fisher Rocket V2 is a 3x3x5 shape mod based on a 3x3x5 cuboid with a Fisher-style layout. The model combines two different Fisher 3x3x5 variants. The top two layers come from the Fisher Cuboid and the bottom three from the 3x3x5 Fisher Star Cuboid. This gives the puzzle an irregular profile, which is where the name "Rocket" comes from. This version has a black body (Black).

What makes it challenging

Fisher Rocket V2 is not a cube for speedsolving. It's a puzzle for people who enjoy unusual twisty puzzles. As with any 3x3x5, the 3x3 faces turn 90°, while the longer sides turn only 180°. The Fisher-style cuts are rotated relative to the shape, so once scrambled, the puzzle loses its shape, and besides the colors you also have to restore its geometry.

The Rocket version adds one more twist. The top and bottom parts come from two different variants, so the pieces at each end don't behave symmetrically. Methods you know from the regular Fisher Cuboid 3x3x5 don't carry over one to one. You'll have to work out some steps on your own instead of simply applying ready-made algorithms.

Who is it for?

For people who can comfortably solve a 3x3x3 and have solved at least one cuboid, e.g. a regular 3x3x5 or a Fisher Cuboid, and are now looking for the next step. Fisher Rocket V2 is also a great addition to a collection of shape mod puzzles. It's not a good choice as a first puzzle for a child or someone just learning the 3x3, because it's easy to scramble and hard to return to its original shape.
