Calvins Puzzle Manish Cubo-Copter Plus

From a distance, it looks like an ordinary cube. Up close, you can see that every face is cut into a network of curved, interlocking pieces with triangular and rounded shapes. The Calvins Puzzle Manish Cubo-Copter Plus is a cube-based shape mod puzzle. It was designed by Manish and is produced by Calvin's Puzzle. We offer it in the black-body version, which clearly separates the coloured pieces on each face.

How the Cubo-Copter Plus differs from a regular cube

On a 3x3 cube you turn flat layers, and the faces are divided in a simple, regular way. Here, the cuts run in arcs and split each face into many small fragments, so methods and algorithms from NxN cubes don't carry over to this puzzle directly. The name refers to the Copter family of puzzles, known for designs such as the Helicopter Cube and the Curvy Copter. Manish has also created other puzzles in this family, for example the Hexacopter.

Each face has its own colour, so after scrambling you can still work out where a given piece belongs, despite the large number of small parts. On a shelf, the Cubo-Copter Plus stands out with a pattern reminiscent of stained glass, which also makes it an attractive collector's item.

Who is it for?

This puzzle makes the most sense for people who have already mastered standard cubes and want to take on unusual geometry. Time doesn't matter here - what counts is understanding how the pieces move and working out your own way to solve it. For a child's first cube, a classic 3x3 is a better choice. The Cubo-Copter Plus works best as the next step for someone who already solves cubes comfortably and is looking for a new challenge.

The same series also includes the Cubo-Copter X-Plus. That version comes with additional stickers that mark the orientation of selected pieces. The Plus version has no such markers.
