Vladi's Seed II is an unusual shape-shifting puzzle from Calvins Puzzle, designed by Vladi Delimollov. This version comes in an orange, green and yellow colour scheme and is the second colour edition of the puzzle the manufacturer calls Vladi's Evil Seed. Evil Seed is a more challenging variant of the original Vladi's Seed. The first edition was red, blue and white. Based on the available information, edition II differs from it only in colours.

Shape and mechanism

When solved, the puzzle is a three-sided shape with three openings through which you can see parts of the mechanism. Inside, there is a two-layer prism-type mechanism. After just a few moves, the puzzle loses its shape and turns into an irregular form. While solving, you need to keep track not only of the colours but also of the geometry.

Seed or Evil Seed II?

The basic Vladi's Seed is fairly simple: sometimes a few random moves bring it back to the solved state. The designer created the Evil version two years later and deliberately made it harder. It has defined centers, meaning centers whose position matters when solving, plus an additional axis of rotation. This makes the scramble deeper, and you won't solve this puzzle by accident.

Who is it for?

This puzzle is for people who already know classic cubes and want to try something outside the WCA categories. It is not a puzzle for TPS or speedsolving. What matters most is understanding how the pieces behave as the shape changes. The stickerless version has no stickers that could wear off or peel, and the coloured plastic looks great in a collection. For someone who is just learning to solve the 3x3, the regular Vladi's Seed may be a gentler introduction to shape mods.
