Calvins Puzzle Vladis Seed is a shape-shifting puzzle designed by Vladi Delimollov, a Bulgarian twisty puzzle designer, and manufactured by Calvin's Puzzle. Out of the box, it doesn't look like a cube. It has an irregular, seed-shaped body that changes form as you turn it. It comes in two colour versions: with a black body (Black) and stickerless (Stickerless Bright).

How it solves

The Seed impresses mainly with its shape. The solving algorithm itself isn't demanding. According to users, it's one of the easier puzzles of its kind, and sometimes you can even get back to the solved state with random moves. The main challenge is not getting lost as the shape keeps changing. The first time you pick it up, you'll need a moment to get used to it, because the familiar reference points from a classic 3x3 cube don't work here.

Reviewers point out that the puzzle is smaller than it looks in photos. Turns can feel a bit "slippery", and the layers don't always snap into place on their own, so when turning faster you need to keep an eye on alignment. This is a puzzle for collecting and having fun, not a piece of hardware for high TPS.

Seed or Evil Seed?

The same designer created a harder variant, the Evil Seed. It has oriented centres and an extra axis of rotation, which makes solving much more complicated. The regular Seed is a gentler introduction to this family of puzzles.

Who is it for?

For cubers who already know the 3x3 and want to try something outside the WCA events without jumping straight into very difficult puzzles. It also works well as an unusual addition to a collection or as a gift for someone who enjoys logic puzzles. If someone has never solved a cube before, a classic 3x3 is a better place to start.
