DaYan GuHong 3 M, also written as GuHong V3M, is a magnetic 3x3x3 cube released in 2019. It is a newer version of the GuHong, DaYan's first successful cube series. It is smaller than typical 56 mm cubes and lightweight. Inside you will find a simple, proven design without elaborate adjustment systems.

Design

The mechanism is built similarly to most flagships of that era, such as the GAN 356 XS and the Valk Elite M. However, DaYan kept a few nods to the original: the edge bases have a distinctive click that recalls the design of the first GuHong. The cube uses classic springs, and tension is adjusted with screws. There is no Ball-Core, MagLev or magnet strength adjustment.

How it turns

A few things come up again and again in user reviews. Turning is smooth and light, and the feel is similar to the DaYan TengYun. Some people find it more tactile, with a noticeable click as the layers align. The magnets are fairly moderate in strength, so the cube doesn't feel overly "snappy", yet it stays stable even during harder turning. Corner cutting is rated well. Reviewers also point out some weaker points: the plastic feels rather cheap, and the inside needs cleaning more often than with other cubes.

Who is the GuHong 3 M for?

Thanks to its small size and light turning, the GuHong 3 M works well for OH, especially for people with smaller hands. It is also a sensible first magnetic cube for a child or for anyone who solves casually. It performs well straight out of the box, and you don't need to adjust many settings. If you are used to 56 mm cubes, you may need a moment to get used to the smaller size. If you want magnets in the core, MagLev or tool-free adjustment, you'd better look at newer models in the series, such as the GuHong Pro M.
