DaYan Pyraminx V3 (MagLev + UV)

This is the third generation of DaYan's pyraminx, released in 2025. The DaYan Pyraminx V3 (MagLev + UV) is the most fully featured version of this model. It uses MagLev instead of springs and has a magnetic Ball-Core inside. The plastic has a glossy UV coating. We stock it in the stickerless bright colour scheme, so there are no stickers that could wear off or peel over time.

How it turns

Users describe the V3 as a pyraminx with a light, "airy" feel and noticeably quiet turning. Turning is smooth and fluid. The puzzle performs well straight out of the box, with no lengthy setup needed. The magnets are moderate rather than strong, so if you're used to a MoYu pyraminx with strong magnets, you'll feel the difference right away. Some reviews also mention that certain cuts that work on other pyraminxes can be harder here, and that the tips (the small rotating corners) turn quite softly.

MagLev, Ball-Core and adjustment

• MagLev: the springs are replaced by repelling magnets. There's less friction, and turning is lighter and quieter.
• Ball-Core with 10 magnets: magnets between the corners and the core help align the layers and keep the puzzle stable during fast turning.
• Adjustable corner magnets: 5 strength levels.
• Dual adjustment system: 8 tension levels and 6 compression levels. No tools are needed to change the settings.
• A total of 84 factory-installed magnets, plus a piece design intended to reduce pieces catching on each other.

When removing the tips to adjust the settings, be gentle, as the plastic parts of the mechanism don't respond well to force.

MagLev + UV or standard version?

The V3 is also available in a cheaper standard version. It has the Ball-Core and the same adjustment range, but it uses classic springs and has matte plastic without UV coating. The MagLev + UV version turns more lightly and has a grippier surface. On a pyraminx, moves are short and very fast, which is why some competitors value the better grip of the UV coating. The standard version is a few grams lighter and has a more classic, spring-based feel.

Who is it for?

Mainly for people who practise pyraminx for speed and want a quiet, fast model with a wide adjustment range. It's also a good step up from a cheap non-magnetic pyraminx. If you like strong magnets and firm layer snapping, you may be happier with a different design. For a child's first puzzle of this type, the standard version is more than enough.
