The second generation of DaYan's skewb, released in 2025. DaYan Skewb V2 M uses features known from flagship 3x3 cubes: a magnetic Ball-Core, tension and compression adjustment, and adjustable magnet strength. This version runs on classic springs (no MagLev), has matte plastic without a UV coating and comes in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

The Skewb V2 M is light and fast. The magnets in the core pull the corners towards the centre, which helps finish moves and keeps the puzzle stable during fast turning. Corner cutting is good, and the pieces are designed to prevent them from catching on each other, i.e. lockups. The centres are slightly concave (sculpted), so your fingers hold the faces more securely during fast moves. The matte surface offers medium grip.

Users point out that the tension is often set rather loose out of the box, so it's worth adjusting the settings to your liking before your first solves.

Ball-Core and adjustment

• Ball-Core, i.e. magnets between the corners and the core. They give more controlled turning and better stability.
• 6 compression levels and 8 tension levels in a dual-adjustment system.

• Tool-free adjustment. You change the settings by hand, no key needed. However, some people report that the adjustment caps are hard to remove.

M or MagLev UV version?

The Skewb V2 is available in two versions. Both have a Ball-Core and the same adjustment system. The M version described here runs on springs and has matte plastic. The MagLev UV version uses repelling magnets instead of springs. It also has a glossy UV coating with stronger grip and is slightly heavier (approx. 79 g vs 73 g). The spring version has a more classic feel and is cheaper. MagLev is usually chosen by people who want the lightest possible turning.

Who is it for?

For those who want to solve skewb for time and need a modern, adjustable model with magnets in the core. It also works well as a first serious skewb for someone who already knows the 3x3 and wants to try a new puzzle. The skewb has only a few types of moves and is quick to learn, so even a child can handle this model.
