DianSheng 6-Corner-Only V2 is a puzzle shaped like a double pyramid with a hexagonal base, often sold under the name 6-Corner Hexagonal Dipyramid. It doesn't look like a cube, but cubers describe it as a 3x3 shape mod, meaning a 3x3 cube with differently shaped pieces. The main difference between V2 and the first generation is that instead of stickers, it has colored tiles embedded in the plastic. The tiles sit flush with the surface and don't peel off, even after long use.

How to solve it

Inside, it runs on a 3x3 mechanism, so knowing a method for the regular cube helps a lot. The challenge lies elsewhere: the pieces have different shapes, so it's hard to tell at a glance which piece plays which role. After a few turns the puzzle loses its shape, and you have to learn to read it all over again. That's what makes shape-shifting puzzles so much fun.

Let's be clear from the start: this is not a speedcube. There is no tension adjustment system, and users of the first version noted that it turns only averagely and doesn't handle forceful turning well. This puzzle rewards calm, precise moves, and fast turning easily leads to lockups.

Black or Transparent?

The mechanism and tiles are the same in both versions; only the plastic color differs. In the Black version, the colored tiles stand out clearly against the black background. The see-through Transparent version shows the inside and the structure of the mechanism, so it looks great on a shelf in your collection.

Who is it for?

It's a good choice if you already solve the 3x3 and want to try something other than yet another fast cube. It will also appeal to collectors of DianSheng puzzles from this series, as alongside the 6-corner version there are also 4-corner and 8-corner variants. For a child's first puzzle, while they are still learning the method, a classic 3x3 cube is a better fit.
