DianSheng Galaxy Cluster 4EQ M is a magnetic puzzle from the Galaxy Cluster series, also known as the DianSheng Galaxy 2x2 Magic Wheel 4EQ. Under the surface it runs on a 2x2 cube mechanism, and each face has a round wheel that turns independently of the layers. The letter M in the name stands for the magnetic version.

How the Magic Wheel 4EQ works

The wheels on the faces rotate around their own axis, so you turn both the 2x2 layers and the wheels themselves. This makes solving completely different from a regular 2x2. Knowing 2x2 methods will help you find your way around, but it won't be enough to solve this puzzle.

The 4EQ designation means that each wheel is divided into four equal segments. There is also an 8EQ version with eight segments per wheel, which scrambles more deeply and is harder. The 4EQ version is a gentler start if you want to get to know the Magic Wheel idea without a large number of pieces.

Magnets and turning

The magnets in the mechanism help the layers snap into place and stay aligned after a turn. This matters in shape mods, where it's harder to judge by eye whether a layer is exactly aligned. Still, this is a puzzle for solving and collecting, not a cube for setting times, so there's no point judging it in terms of TPS.
