DianSheng Googol 15 cm 3x3

DianSheng Googol 15 cm is a fully functional 3x3 cube with an edge length of approx. 15 cm, roughly 2.5 times bigger than a standard speedcube (approx. 56 mm). You solve it exactly like a regular 3x3. The same algorithms work here without any changes; only the scale is different. The cube weighs approx. 0.8 kg, so most people turn it with their whole hands rather than just their fingers.

How does a big 3x3 cube turn?

With puzzles this large, the most common problem is a mechanism that jams or falls apart. For its size, the Googol 15 cm handles this surprisingly well. It has an anti-pop mechanism that keeps the pieces from popping out. The pieces feature "tortoise shell" grooves that reduce friction and help spread the lube evenly. Even so, don't expect it to behave like a speedcube. Large, heavy layers have their own inertia, and corner cutting and TPS don't really matter at this scale. This is a cube you solve at a relaxed pace, just for fun.

Stickerless Bright or Macaron?

Both versions are stickerless, so the colour is in the plastic itself and there are no stickers that could peel off or wear away. Stickerless Bright has classic, vivid colours with good contrast. Macaron has pastel shades that look softer, but some of the colours are closer to each other. Once the cube is scrambled, you may sometimes need to take a closer look.

Who is it for?

The Googol 15 cm works well as an eye-catching collection piece or as decoration on a desk or shelf. It's also a great gift idea for someone who already solves a regular 3x3. The large format is handy for demonstrating moves to others too, e.g. when teaching a group to solve the cube, because the colours and layer turns are visible from a distance. This is not a cube for timed practice. If you want to solve a larger cube quickly, the smaller magnetic models from the Googol series (7–10 cm) are a better choice. When buying for a young child, keep the weight in mind: approx. 0.8 kg is quite a lot for small hands.
