The MS3R is DianSheng's flagship 3x3, developed together with MS-cube (MsCube). The DianSheng MS3R UV 3x3 Magnetic is a magnetic stickerless cube measuring 55.5 mm, so it is slightly smaller than the typical 56-57 mm. What sets it apart is its adjustment system, which you set by hand instead of with a key. This version has a UV coating. You can choose a Primary (coloured) or Black internal.

Manual adjustment, no key needed

• Adjustable core with two settings: tighter and looser.
• 5 spring tension levels (1 is the loosest, 5 the tightest), which you also change with your fingers.
• Fixed magnet strength: it cannot be adjusted. The cube also has no core magnets.

Some users report that the level markings on the adjustment piece under the center cap are hard to read. When changing settings, it is easier to count the clicks.

How it turns

Opinions on the MS3R are mixed, and it is worth knowing this before you buy. The magnets are perceived as medium to strong. Reviewers praise the corner cutting. The feel is rather unusual: a bit hollow and clacky, different from most new MoYu or GAN cubes. Its weaker points are stability and resistance to popping. The cube can be very flexible, and some people report corner twists and center caps popping off, even at tighter settings. Out of the box, the MS3R usually needs some setup, meaning choosing the right tension and lubing, before it performs well.

UV or uncoated version?

The mechanism and adjustment are the same in both versions. The UV coating gives a glossy surface, better grip and greater scratch resistance. If you prefer matte plastic, you can choose the standard frosted version.

Who is it for?

The MS3R makes sense for a cuber who already has a main cube and wants to try a different feel, or who enjoys fine-tuning the setup themselves. If you are mainly looking for a stable, predictable cube for timed practice, consider a model with core magnets. For a child's first cube, it is better to choose a simpler, more stable magnetic model.
