FanXin Peach Cube is a peach-shaped 3x3 cube, also known as a shape mod. It belongs to the FanXin fruit puzzle series, which also includes an apple, a pear, an orange and a lemon. The mechanism is a standard 3x3, but the whole cube is a single pink colour. That means there are no colours to rely on. You recognize each piece by its shape and its position relative to the outline of the fruit.

How to solve it

The algorithms are the same as on a regular 3x3 cube. What changes is the way you look at the puzzle. As with the Mirror Cube, you need to read the geometry of the pieces rather than the stickers. The pieces of the peach are similar in shape and size, so telling them apart takes concentration. According to customer reviews, the second FanXin fruit series (peach, pear, orange) is noticeably harder than the first (apple, banana, lemon). Once solved, the peach returns to its rounded shape, so you can see right away whether everything is in place.

This is a non-magnetic puzzle for casual solving, not for setting times. It turns properly, but it can't be compared with speedcubing cubes. It is also not legal for official competitions.

Tension adjustment

The tension is set with adjustment screws. After unpacking, it's a good idea to do a few test turns and tighten or loosen the cube if needed. With an unusual shape, setting it too loose makes popping more likely.

Who is it for?

For anyone who can already solve a 3x3 and wants a new challenge without learning new algorithms. The peach is also a great pick for shape mod collectors and works well as a decoration for a desk or shelf. If you are learning from scratch, a classic 3x3 cube is a better choice, because the lack of colours makes it harder to understand how the puzzle works.
