GAN 14 MagLev Pro Frosted is an improved version of the flagship GAN 14 MagLev 3x3 cube. The mechanism and the adjustment system have stayed largely the same. GAN changed the design in the areas responsible for stability: the edges have been redesigned, the popping protection has been reinforced (Pro-Level Anti-Pop) and the center mounting has been improved. This version has a matte frosted surface without a UV coating and comes in a stickerless bright color scheme.

How it turns

Thanks to MagLev, meaning repelling magnets instead of springs, the cube turns fast and light with very little resistance. Reviewers and users praise its good corner cutting and noticeable auto-align, which snaps the layer into place before you finish the turn. It suits cubers with a light turning style who like fast cubes best. Some users feel the magnets are weaker than in the GAN 12 and GAN 13 and mention occasional catching. A few people also say the cube only started turning well after breaking it in and lubing it. With such a wide range of adjustments, you will also need to spend some time finding your own setup.

Adjustment and technologies

Frosted or UV?

Both versions have the same mechanism. Frosted has matte plastic with medium grip that shows fingerprints less. The UV version is glossy and grips your fingers better.

Who is it for?

For speedcubers who want to tailor their cube to themselves and like fast, light-turning cubes. At 71 g, the GAN 14 MagLev Pro is noticeably heavier than GAN's newer, lightweight flagships. If you prefer a cube with more weight, this can be a plus. Beginners probably won't make use of most of the settings.
