GAN 249 v2 M is the magnetic version of the GAN 249 v2 2x2 cube. It is the next, improved generation of the 249 model and was released in 2018. At 49 mm, it is one of the smaller 2x2 cubes. It weighs approx. 56 g. The cube features the IPG core, GAN's patented core design, tension adjustment with the key included in the set, and a honeycomb texture on the corner contact surfaces.

How it turns

The cube is very fast and turns smoothly. Corner cutting has a wide range, so the 249 v2 M forgives less precise turns. Reviewers describe the magnets as moderate. They help the layers settle into place without noticeably slowing the cube down. According to the manufacturer, the texture on the corner contact surfaces gives a smoother feel and helps the lube last longer.

The cube has one drawback you should know about before buying. Every now and then, a strange "double" catching occurs. This appears to be a feature of the design itself rather than a defect of a particular unit. Some users also describe the turning as slightly "clicky".

49 mm size
