GAN 356 i Carry, smart 3x3 cube

This is the first version of the i Carry series, GAN's smart 3x3 cubes from 2021. The GAN 356 i Carry connects via Bluetooth to the Cube Station app, which records your times and moves while you solve. Compared with earlier GAN smart cubes, it has two important changes: it has no gyroscope, and it runs on a replaceable battery instead of a built-in rechargeable one. There is no need to charge it. When the battery runs out, you simply replace it with a new one.

The Cube Station app and no gyroscope

Cube Station has a clear layout and guides new users step by step. It shows your solve statistics, offers training exercises and lets you race other cubers online. Without a gyroscope, the app registers layer turns, but the virtual cube on the screen does not rotate along with the cube in your hand. That is enough for tracking your solves and training. If you want your movements fully mirrored on the screen, keep this in mind. According to GAN, the factory-installed battery lasts about 280 hours of use.

How it turns

Despite the electronics inside, the cube is fast and stable. The magnets are moderately strong, so turning feels light, and the layers snap into place clearly but without force. This setup suits people who are just learning a method and need a cube that doesn't resist them.

Adjustment: springs and spacers

There is no GES system here, as found on other GAN cubes. Instead, you get a simpler set: three sets of springs and three sets of spacers for the centers. By swapping springs and spacers, you change the cube's tension. All information on maintenance and replacing parts is in the manual.

i Carry or newer versions?

After this cube, GAN released further models: i Carry 2, i Carry S and i Carry E. For example, the i Carry 2 has GES Pro+ adjustment and a battery rated for about 700 hours, but it is heavier. The original i Carry has a simpler design and basic adjustment. It's enough if your main goal is solving with the app.

Who is it for?

For beginners and casual solvers. It's also a good choice for parents who want their child to see their progress in the app. The cube is not allowed in official competitions, so for competing you will need a regular magnetic cube.
