GAN 562 5x5x5 Frosted

The GAN 562 is GAN's first 5x5 cube. GAN has brought over its magnetic Ball-Core, previously used only in its 2x2 and 3x3 cubes. The GAN 562 5x5x5 Frosted is the version with a matte surface without UV coating, in a stickerless bright colour scheme. The cube measures 62 mm and weighs approx. 127 g, which makes it light for a 5x5.

How the GAN 562 5x5 turns

Reviews describe it as a fast 5x5 that also stays very stable. The feel is smooth, with a slightly "papery" touch. The inner layers get particular praise: they turn lightly and evenly, sometimes even better than the outer layers. Pops and corner twists are rare because the pieces interlock tightly. The outer layers corner cut at around 40°.

Out of the box the cube can be tight, so you will usually need to loosen it a little. At very loose settings, some users run into lockups and catching, especially when turning several layers at once. It's better to set the tension to suit your turning style than to loosen it a lot straight away.

Ball-Core and construction

• Magnetic Ball-Core: 16 magnets in the core work with the corners and help align the layers. On a big cube with many layers, this makes control noticeably easier.
• 96 magnets in the pieces: stronger in the outer layers and weaker in the inner layers, so the inner layers don't need much force to turn.
• A widened outer layer and a double-layer inner structure improve stability.
• A honeycomb structure on the contact surfaces spreads the lube more evenly.
• Tension adjustment via screws in the core.

Frosted or UV?

Inside, both versions are identical: the same Ball-Core, 112 magnets and the same mechanism. The Frosted version has matte plastic with no gloss. The UV version has a glossy coating with stronger grip. The choice mainly comes down to which surface you prefer in your hands.

Who is it for?

The GAN 562 is for cubers who train 5x5 seriously and want a light, fast cube that doesn't sacrifice stability. It also works well as a first high-quality magnetic 5x5 for someone upgrading from a budget model. If you're just getting into bigger cubes and solve only occasionally, a cheaper magnetic 5x5 will be enough.
