GAN Megaminx M

GAN Megaminx M is a magnetic megaminx and GAN's first puzzle beyond cubes, released in 2020. It is very light (approx. 114 g at a size of approx. 70 mm), has factory-installed magnets and the GES v3 system in all 12 centers. The design is largely based on the X-Man Galaxy V2, so if you know the Galaxy, you will quickly feel at home with it.

How it differs from the Galaxy V2

GAN changed the angle of the corner and center bases, and the edges are wider relative to the corners. The inner surfaces of the pieces have a honeycomb structure that reduces weight. The magnets are medium strength and feel a little weaker than in the Galaxy V2 M.

How it turns

Turning is very light, and corner cutting is excellent. In our opinion, only the Galaxy V2 L M versions do better. Users also point out less "rubbery" behavior and fewer lockups during algorithms. The weaker magnets and low weight make this megaminx more fast than very stable. With very aggressive turning, you need to keep your moves accurate.

The surface is its weaker point. The plastic is matte and the dimples on the corners are shallow, so the grip is noticeably weaker. Over time, the matte surface wears and starts to get shiny.

GES v3 adjustment

The set includes 4 sets of GES v3 nuts that change the spring pressure, and with it the speed and resistance of turning. This lets you set up the puzzle more for speed or more for control. You swap the nuts using the tools included in the set.

Who is it for?

For those who already solve the megaminx and want a light, fast puzzle with tension adjustment. For your first megaminx, a cheaper magnetic model will do. This one is allowed in official WCA competitions.
