The second-generation megaminx from GAN, released in 2024. Quite a lot has changed compared with the first GAN Megaminx M. The GAN Megaminx V2 Maglev UV uses the MagLev system instead of springs, a magnetic Ball-Core and a glossy UV coating. It is a magnetic, stickerless megaminx for people who solve it regularly and want high-end hardware.

Colour versions

The puzzle is available in two versions:

• Black: with a black face,
• Gray: with a gray face (the standard megaminx colour scheme).

The mechanism is the same in both versions; only the colour of one face differs. Many competitors who solve the megaminx for time choose the black face. The gray one matches the classic colour scheme.

How it turns

Users describe the V2 Maglev as a fast, smooth and fairly light-turning megaminx that performs well straight out of the box. Magnets connecting the corners to the core help the faces snap into place. According to distributors, the puzzle self-corrects misalignment of up to about 15 degrees, so during fast turning it is easier to avoid lockups on the next moves. Corner cutting depends on the setup. Some people notice that once the tension is set and the puzzle is broken in, it performs noticeably better than straight out of the box.

MagLev, Ball-Core and adjustment

• MagLev: instead of springs, the centers use repelling magnets. This gives lighter and quieter turning, with no spring noise.

• The pieces have a concave shape that makes the puzzle easier to hold. The interior has a honeycomb structure that helps the lube last longer.
