GAN Mini M Pro 3x3

The GAN Mini M Pro is a 53 mm magnetic 3x3 cube, about 3 mm smaller than the standard 56 mm. On the box and with some distributors it appears as a model from the GAN 11 series. In terms of construction, however, it is closer to the GAN 12 M Leap: it has the same type of design and features, just on a smaller scale. It is light and offers full adjustment of both magnets and springs, so it suits smaller hands and one-handed solving (OH) well.

How it turns

The small size and low weight mean shorter finger movements. Your hands get less tired during longer sessions, and OH solvers praise it for an easier grip and high TPS. The magnets in the core strongly stabilize the layers. At the strongest setting, some users even find them too strong. In that case, just go a level or two lower. The feel is typical for GAN: fairly clicky and rather loud.

Before you buy, it's worth knowing a few points from reviews. Out of the box, the cube may catch and feel "hollow" inside, because the pieces have many weight-reducing cut-outs. The cube "eats" lube quickly, so you will need to lube it more often. The edges have a textured Honeycomb surface, which can catch on your finger during aggressive corner cutting. After tightening and lubing, the cube usually improves noticeably.

Adjustment and technologies

• GMS v3 (GAN Magnetic System): a magnetic core and interchangeable magnet bars. This gives you 7 magnet strength settings, including a no-magnet option.
• GES Pro+: 4 compression levels and 4 tension levels, i.e. 16 combinations set with the adjustment tool.
• Enhanced Core Positioning: 64 magnets in the pieces and core that help the layers snap into place.
• Matte (frosted) surface.

Who is it for?

For people with smaller hands, OH fans and anyone who finds the standard 56 mm too big. The cube is legal for official WCA competitions. It will appeal most to someone who likes to set up their cube themselves and doesn't mind lubing it more often. A child can get it as a first cube without worrying about the size, but only someone who already solves regularly will make full use of the adjustment range.
