Maru Thick Lube 10 ml

Maru Thick Lube is a thick lube for puzzle cubes that works more slowly but lasts longer than the popular thin Maru lube. Thin Maru loosens a cube quickly, but its effect wears off after a short time. The thick version stays in the mechanism much longer and reduces resistance when turning the layers. The bottle holds 10 ml.

How Maru thick lube works

Thick lube doesn't run off as easily as thin lube, so it stays where the cube's pieces rub against each other. Your cube turns more smoothly and with less resistance, and the effect lasts a long time, without having to add more lube every few days. Thick lube also gives a calmer, smoother feel and a bit more control. If maximum speed is your main goal, you'll get it more easily with a thin lube.

Where to apply it and how much

• Core, screws and springs. This is the main use of thick lube. It reduces friction inside the mechanism and quiets spring noise.
• Pieces (edges and corners). A really small amount is enough here. It's easy to overdo it with thick lube, and then the cube becomes heavy and "rubbery".
• Dosage. Start with one or two drops. After a few solves the lube will spread through the mechanism, and if it's still not enough, you can easily add more.

Thick or regular Maru?

The two lubes complement each other well, and many cubers use them together. Thin Maru quickly loosens a new or neglected cube, but its effect is short-lived. Thick Maru works better as a long-lasting base lube, especially for the core and springs. If you only want one lube and would like your cube to need relubing rarely, choose the thick version.

Who is it for?

For cubers who set up their own cubes and want a smoother, quieter mechanism with a longer-lasting effect. It's also a good choice when a cube has become dry and scratchy after long use. Used sensibly, one 10 ml bottle is enough to lube many cubes.
