Meffert Flowerminx is a kilominx from Meffert's, a 2x2 version of the dodecahedron. Every face has flower-shaped stickers. Meffert's brought this puzzle into mass production in 2009. We stock the black-body version. There are no centers or edges: the whole puzzle is made of 20 movable corners.

Kilominx, a simpler Megaminx

The Flowerminx has 12 faces, each in a different color, and every one of them can be turned. It relates to the Megaminx the way the Pocket Cube relates to the classic 3x3. Methods and algorithms you know from the 2x2 and 3x3 will help you solve it. That makes the Flowerminx a good first step into dodecahedrons before you move on to the Megaminx. The kilominx is not a WCA event, so this puzzle is better suited to casual solving and collecting than to competitions.

Mechanism and turning

Inside, it uses Meffert's Pyraminx Crystal mechanism rather than a scaled-down Megaminx. It is an older type of design, and you should keep that in mind. The puzzle is solid, but it doesn't feel like a modern magnetic speedcubing kilominx. Users report catching and lockups when turning too fast. If a layer isn't properly aligned and you turn aggressively, popping can also happen. It works best when you solve at a relaxed pace: hold one part firmly in your hand and complete each turn fully.

The Flowerminx makes the most sense for collectors of Meffert's puzzles and for anyone who enjoys unusual, great-looking puzzles. It's also a good choice if you've already solved the 2x2 and 3x3 and want to try a dodecahedron at an easier level. For fast, timed kilominx solving, a newer speedcubing design is a better pick.
