This twelve-sided MF8 puzzle is for people who have already mastered classic cubes and are looking for something different. MF8 Standard Rhomdo Plus has 6 rhombus-shaped faces and 6 trapezoid-shaped faces. The mechanism turns around 9 axes and is a jumbling puzzle. The shape of the puzzle looks different depending on which side you look at it from.

What is jumbling and why is it hard?

On a regular cube, every turn brings it back to the same shape. On a jumbling puzzle, some moves rearrange pieces so that they end up in places that regular sequences don't move them to. After scrambling, you first have to restore the correct geometry and only then solve the colors. Knowing 3x3 algorithms isn't enough. You'll need your own setups and a bit of patience.

One customer said the Rhomdo Plus is noticeably harder than the DodeRhombus from the same series. He couldn't find any video tutorials either and solved it by adapting algorithms from Rua puzzles. So don't count on ready-made instructions.

Mechanism and setup

According to reviews, the puzzle doesn't tend to pop. Still, after taking it out of the box, it's worth loosening it slightly and adding a few drops of lube. That's normal for a puzzle this large. The model has no magnets, so turns don't snap into place like on speedcubes. This mechanism is made for calm, thoughtful solving, not for chasing times.

Standard or Crazy?

MF8 also makes a Crazy Rhomdo Plus version. It has extra circles in the middle of each face, which either turn with the face or stay in place, depending on their position. This adds another level of difficulty. The Standard version has the same shape without this feature, so it's the better one to start with.

Who is it for?

For collectors of shape-shifting puzzles and for people who have already solved the DodeRhombus, the Megaminx or other unusual puzzles and want to take on jumbling. It's too difficult as a first puzzle for a child.
