MoYu 36 Blocks Snake Puzzle is a snake-type puzzle: a chain of linked triangular pieces that twist against each other. This version has 36 pieces, half as many again as the classic 24-piece snake, so you can build bigger and more complex shapes with it. The pieces come in a range of fairly muted colors (Mixed color variant). This model has no magnets.

How the MoYu snake works

Unlike a 3x3 cube, this puzzle has no single "solved" state. By twisting one joint after another, you turn a straight chain into compact solids, animal figures, geometric patterns or completely original creations. You can also join several snakes into one larger build. The pieces turn easily and don't need to be pressed hard, so kids can use the snake easily too. Many people also use it as a quiet fidget toy at the desk or during a break.

24, 36, 48, 60 or 72 pieces?

MoYu makes this snake in five sizes: 24, 36, 48, 60 and 72 pieces. The mechanism and feel are the same; only the length of the chain differs. The 24-piece version is the smallest and easiest to handle. The 36-piece version already offers noticeably more possibilities while staying handy and not tangling the way the longest snakes do. The 60- and 72-piece models are for those who want to build large, elaborate figures.

Who is it for?

The snake is great for kids who like building things, and for adults as a simple spatial puzzle or something to keep your hands busy. It's an inexpensive add-on to your order or a small gift. Speedcubers won't find a timed challenge here. The snake is more about spatial imagination than another cube to practice with.
