MoYu 3D Maze 80mm

This MoYu puzzle has no layers to turn at all. MoYu 3D Maze 80mm is a three-dimensional maze enclosed in a cube with 8 cm sides. You win with dexterity and patience, not by knowing algorithms. Tilt and rotate the cube in your hands to guide the piece inside the maze from start to finish. The version available in our shop is blue (Blue).

How to play

The path runs inside the cube on several levels, so looking at just one face isn't enough. You have to follow the route in three dimensions and predict which way to tilt the cube so you don't end up back at the start. Calm, controlled movements are what count. Fast, nervous tilting usually means you have to start over. Corner cutting, turning and TPS don't matter with this puzzle. It's a dexterity puzzle, not a speedcubing cube.

The 80 mm size compared to other versions

MoYu makes the 3D Maze in three sizes: 60 mm, 80 mm and 95 mm. The 80 mm version is the middle one. It's noticeably bigger than the miniature 60 mm, so the route is easier to follow, yet it still fits comfortably in your hand and in a backpack. It weighs about 70 g, so it won't tire your hand even during longer sessions.

Who is it for?

It's above all a small gift and a pastime for a child who likes puzzles but doesn't necessarily want to learn algorithms. It also works well as something to kill time at your desk or while travelling. A speedcuber will treat it more as a break from training than as a puzzle for timed solving. If you're looking for a classic cube to learn solving on, go for a beginner 3x3 model instead.
